Bethany United Methodist Church

Description:

Located in the Anderson Mill neighborhood in Austin, the Bethany United Methodist Church’s Sanctuary Building was designed as the spiritual and visual focus of the church's community and campus and completed as Phase IV of the church’s expansion. Its octagon shaped outline, incorporating long-span beams and columns, includes the sanctuary and chancel with a large stained-glass window and upper clerestory windows, a gathering foyer and hall, and restrooms. The church’s other prior phases, designed by Shefelman and Nix Architects, included a campus Master Plan and the church's first multi-purpose Fellowship Hall followed by the Education Buildings and the Bethel Building. Later, after the completion of the Sanctuary Building, The firm designed the education and administrative Disciple Building as well as an expansion and addition to the Sanctuary adding additional seating. A total of seven phases of architectural services were provided for the church.
