The Taylor Residence remodel involved a total update of a residence
originally designed by Jim Nix in 1972. The original Modern-styled home
was unique due to it having three two-story spaces, living, kitchen and
family, wrapped around an interior court. Due to differences in lifestyles
from the original owners, the area above the kitchen was enclosed to
allow for the second story expansion of the master bedroom suite which
included a new bath. Also, the partial enclosure of the family area allowed
for a larger child's bedroom. To enhance the flow of guests when entertaining,
three part stacking wood doors replaced sliding glass doors to allow for easy
movement through the house from the front deck with views to the west to the
quiet shaded terrace to the east.
