The Sanctuary Addition at Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church followed a
two-story Education Wing addition completed in a previous phase. The
expansion of the existing Sanctuary was in response to the congregation's
desire to expand the existing seating capacity and to achieve a more
spacious and refined worship space. The heights within the existing space
were increased from 12 feet to more than 37 feet. A lowered ceiling area
above the stage's raised pulpit small choir area serves as a counter point
to the lower existing ceiling that was partially retained. The exterior
detailing was limited in order to match the previous conditions and finishes.
The Fellowship Hall addition with a new enlarged kitchen and serving area
was recently added.
