In a departure from the norm of most law firms, when needing to expand
their practice space, these attorneys chose to convert a street level
retail space within the historic building containing their present offices which
was on a busy Congress Avenue corner in downtown Austin. The new space
created new client reception and conference spaces as well as provided for
much needed staff support functions. The conference room, positioned
strategically in the space's corner, is surrounded by tall paired doors which
originally opened into the retail space. The room now enjoys outside light
on two sides. In order to allow for a sense of privacy when desired, a
separation from sidewalk activities was achieved by utilizing a
combination of thickened walls and wide wood slat blinds at each paired
doors' location.
